On the Exhibition on Proposals for Development of West Kowloon Cultural District (at the Science Museum)

People's Panel on West Kowloon (PPWK) is a platform initiated by a group of HK people on a voluntary basis. The purpose of its formation is to assure that: (a) the government public consultation is comprehensive, and (b) the project is well presented to us for better public participation. We appreciate your response to our questions. Your input is most valuable to ensure that future consultation is fair and knowledge-based. Your comments on the West Kowloon Cultural District (WKCD) development project:
a. The Government has released sufficient information on WKCD.
b. The Government should disclose financial information of the three short-listed proposals.
c. The process of "choosing one from the three proposals" should be suspended and a broad-based public consultation process should be launched.
d. We should first allow the public to discuss the overall "cultural blueprint" and then decide on the planning of the WKCD.
e. The WKCD should include the giant "Foster canopy" as Hong Kong's landmark.
f. It is estimated that WKCD land may generate revenue of more than HK$100 billion through public auction. The Government should use part of the revenue obtained through auction to finance the building and operation (for 30 years) of art and cultural facilities in WKCD.
g. The WKCD should be implemented as one single development.
