on West Kowloon
"A Dollar A Day" Campaign
Dear friends and members of PPWK,
We earnestly appeal to you for sponsoring the continuous
operation of the People's Panel on West Kowloon (PPWK) through
"A Dollar A Day" Campaign.
Since the establishment of People's Panel on West Kowloon
(PPWK), we have striven to work out a blueprint for developing
the West Kowloon Cultural District through public consultation.
By stressing the importance of establishing the "West
Kowloon vision", the "urban planning vision"
and the "cultural vision" for Hong Kong and of formulating
strategies for their realization, we, with your participation,
aspire to help create an ideal environment favorable for developing
art and culture in Hong Kong - details can be seen in our
"Re-define West Kowloon" proposal to the Government
(
statement.htm ). .
We urge the government to formulate clear cultural
policies and establish plans for their implementation.
Hence, there is a need for PPWK to continue its operation
to keep up with the above efforts by strengthening its role
on a long-term basis in the form of a think tank with a view
to:
1. continuing to observe and monitor the development of the
West Kowloon Culture District project;
2. engaging actively in research and development for issues
relating to cultural policies; and
3. engaging the public more intensively in cultural development.
Being a non-profit civic organization, one of our greatest
difficulties is lacking funds for continuous operation. So
far, PPWK's operation is supported by private donations from
the public and the core members. However, as the reserve is
running out fast, we cannot go forward to carry out the mission
for cultural development for this city without sufficient
resources.
We therefore have initiated this campaign since we have an
800 strong membership and if each of you can contribute a
dollar a day to PPWK ( it means each of you would contribute
HK$365 a year ) helping PPWK to maintain its operation by
engaging an administrator and covering its basic administrative
overheads.
"Many feathers can make a bed". We believe you
share the same commitment and vision with us. With your contribution
to this campaign of ours - "A Dollar A Day", it
can help us operate PPWK more effectively and make it sustainable.
We earnestly look forward to your participation in this campaign.
