西九推倒重來　再現公民空間

政務司司長許仕仁於二月二十一日立法會西九龍文娛藝術區發展計劃小組委員會會議上宣佈，政府決定放棄原有發展建議書中列出的程序來進一步推展西九項目，令到一直違背市民意願的天篷、被指官商利益輸的單一招標及欠缺長遠文化規劃下的硬件設施均應市民的要求而暫時告終，可見公民社會的力量不容忽視。現在，政府即將設立三個委員會重新就西九項目的設施及融資安排進行討論。有關政府發佈的聲明可瀏覽以下網址: http://www.news.gov.hk/tc/category/infrastructureandlogistics/060221/html/060221tc06001.htm

WKCD Invitation for Proposals Scrapped
Chief Secretary for Administration Rafael Hui announced in LegCo on 22nd February 2006 that the HKSAR government decided to scrap the Invitation for Proposals (IFP) on West Kowloon Cultural District (WKCD) development project. This means the white elephant – the Foster canopy – and the “single development” approach, and all associated plans have all been abandoned, in accordance with the wishes of the people. The government will form an advisory committee chaired by the Chief Secretary to “look into the cultural, tourism, and financial needs of the district”.
